Present-day events in social and cultural life of modern world.

The life of the whole mankind is quite rich with events in different fields of man's activity. And cultural aspect is one of the most significant spheres of our social life. Traditionally, such events are widely covered with the press and are given much publicity. People usually anticipate them with pleasure and take a great interest in everything connected with them. The most popular cultural events with the public are those concerning literature, cinematography and other arts. Regular showings are considered to be the major outcome of this trend and well-grounded result of creative work of many people in art.

Promenade Concerts.

Music festivals have constituted a flourishing tradition in England since the 18th century. They are very numerous (the Alderburgh Festival, the Tilford Festival, the Bach Festival, etc.). The central feature of London summers are the Henry Wood Promenade Concerts ("Proms") (1895). Proms are named after him. Henry Wood was an English conductor and organist, champion of contemporary music. In 1895 he was engaged as conductor of new series of concerts in London. And he returned ordinary concerts into a bright feature of English musical life. Now the "Proms" are held in the Royal Albert Hall for 8 weeks from mid-June each year. Literally, Promenade Concerts are concerts at which the audience can walk about, but in modern usage; concerts, at which a section of the audience stands. This is an old and very popular tradition with English people. Each concert is attended by 4-6 thousand people. The audiences are very mixed at these concerts. There is always a high proportion of young people.

The awards for the most important discoveries or inventions in the fields of physics, chemistry and physiology or medicine; the most distinguished) literary work of an idealistic nature; and the most effective work in the interest of international peace; and in economic sciences. "Oscar".

The best-known film awards are made each spring by the US Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. These awards, called "Oscar", are presented for, outstanding achievement in filmmaking during the preceding year. The Oscar is a gold-plated bronze statue presented to winners. This statue received its name in 1931, when an Academy librarian said it resembled her uncle Oscar. This is the most impressive and bright show in this field, but not the most prestigious. We can say it with confidence that almost each European cinema festival has much more importance and is of a higher intellectual level (Cannes Festival (Palm d'Or), Berlienalle, "Кинотавр").

In Russia there are quite a lot of such events. Some of them are: "Pushkin's readings" which are held every year in honor of the poet; "Golden Masque" - theater award. In Belarus there is also some: "Listapad" - cinema award; "Jazz Festival" under Michal Finberg. They are taking place each year.

Moreover, it's necessary to mention all sport events such as Olympic Games, Youth Sport Festivals, different Championships, International Cups, etc.
